eT3 has just successfully finished Piraeus bank’s historical data migration project.
The main objective of Piraeus bank historical data migration project was to port all historical data files existing on three UNIX servers to a Microsoft based environment covering the years between 1983 to 2004 for nine branches as following: –
- Head Office.
- Cairo Branch.
- Alexandria Branch.
- Mohandseen branch.
- Roxy branch.
- El Azhar branch.
- Giza branch.
- 6 of October branch.
- 10th of Ramadan branch.
eT3 decided to adopt the following methodology to accomplish the project: –
ü Developing a COBOL program responsible of transforming each historical file required to be migrated from its original COBOL format (Indexed, Relative, etc…) to a text file formatted as Comma Separated Value (CSV format).
ü Running each developed program for its related file in each of the nine branches for twenty one years and store the CSV output file into the new Microsoft based environment.
ü Insert the previously generated CSV file into a Microsoft SQL database table.
